Hi viewers! I am very sorry that I have not been able to update this blog very often, but I hope to come on more often! Today's post will be about my Grandma's 75th birthday party. It was mainly family who was invited but also a few of her good close friends. First, everybody met at my uncle's apartment. We served wine, drinks, and small snacks. People just talked and got to meet the ones that they did not know. Next, everybody headed over by taxi to the restaurant, Mr. K's in New York City. It is only about a 5-8 minute ride from the apartment. It is a authentic Chinese restaurant. We chose this place because it was nice and my family is Chinese, so the elders would appreciate the traditional food (not the take-out kind!). We reserved a private room upstairs just for our party. There was a big oval table in the center of the room. There was also a private bathroom, and extra seating. Us kids (my cousins and I) had our own table. The adults all sat together and enjoyed a traditional Chinese banquet meal. There were a lot of courses! The kids had their own menu and dishes. The adult table had beautiful flowers done by my uncle and had candles. They even had menus (but they get everything on it) and a box of chocolate truffles
For the kids, the menu was: chicken skewers, spring rolls, fried dumplings, dragon and phoenix soup, fried rice, lo-mein (noodles), vegetarian's purse (vegetables wrapped in tofu skin), chicken and broccoli, lemon sorbet, and cake (chocolate and expresso mousse) Everything was delicious, but I was so full afterwards. I would like to go to this restaurant again for dinner.
